Genuinely surprised not seeing Destroyer on here.
And I liked the heck out of RP1.
This one didn’t do it for me. Part of me had to dampen my expectations from my brain doing a sort-of “Eternal Sunshine” meets “Laser Cats” hybrid that came from both my love of Gondry’s earlier work (god, that music video DVD in that director series was played to hell in college) and my expectations from the trailer.…
Oh man, I LOVE that dude. Not the horrid and torturous show he was subjected to withstanding, but he’s just a sweetheart in-person and legend around Fukushima (I used to live there). I’m so glad TAL aired his story, because it’s still the most profoundly fucked up reality television story I’ve ever heard.
That movie's soundtrack kicks ass, so, truly, I will never forget Up The Academy.
Nevermind. I read a theory below that explains it perfectly, and my mind is adequately blown.
So how do you justify his corpse-message a couple episodes ago? If he’s a statue, that seems like an awkward time-filler.
I'm glad someone is pointing this out. It made me laugh, but I'm seeing no mention of this parody in the recaps.
I can't be the only one who saw "American Hero Story" as a satire of Zack Snyder's film. All that slow-motion violence...I can't be the only one.
I will never stop believing that Angel’s fifth season was the best season of Whedon’s entire TV filmography.
I mean, no, not here at least...I think his work has been immensely important and fearless, well before it was more common to see that kind of reporting (on famous people being rapists and stuff).
I totally forgot about Hatesong until now. That was just cynical hipster snark overdrive. Just when you think you know your audience...
I’m with you. It’s a trashy soap now (I like trashy soaps...) that’s elevated by the acting caliber.
It’s definitely more of a cartoon now. Once you accept that, you can really start to enjoy these characters comically trying to destroy each other with hammers and anvils.
Yeah, and instead of the mystic angle, she could just scream at Bonnie for vaccinating her kid.
Rumor has it that an VIII remaster is in the works.
Watching Jane just rock right out to the Call Me By Your Name soundtrack was...weird.
I always found that scene a little saccharine, but the Elton scene in Almost Famous that SLAYS me is later in the film when Patrick Fugit is trying to find Kate Hudson after learning of her expulsion from the main caravan. The song is “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters,” and it’s the timing of the song to when he finds Kate…
I’m tense and heartbroken and not sleeping any time soon and this show is a goddamn masterpiece.
