We also have Piastri and Pourchaire incoming, but it’s not like Liz has ever heard of those guys. This is her doubling down on an awful take she had a few years ago, when claiming that McLaren moving on from Vandoorne -who was neither young nor an F1 mega-talent- was a sign that young drivers were not given

3 place grid drop for Verstappen. With Gary Connelly in the stewards’ room, he was never going to get away with that.

1. To protect the win; if they have given Lando the all-clear he would’ve dragged Perez and Bottas with him.

This is such a mega result for Verstappen, largely built on another mega Q3 lap yesterday. This is a track where he probably envisioned losing 10+ points to Lewis. If he can get actually extend his championship lead, that’s huge, particularly since Mercedes has had the performance edge since their Silverstone update.

We do this every year with Monza. People go to the weekend with the mindset of ‘long straights, big braking zones, it’s easy to overtake’ and then during the race we all figure out that the DRS effect is minimal and you can’t follow closely through Lesmo II and the Parabolica.

All of those people are doing just fine.

Yeah, Alpine may have created a problem for themselves with the Ocon extension. Piastri is favored to complete the FRenault/F3/F2 title three-peat (which, if I’m not mistaken, hasn’t been done before), and he won’t be allowed back in F2 if he wins the title. So they might have to stash him in Super Formula for a year,

Not the same thing. Perez got to the grid based on talent, the money was a nice little bonus for Sauber. And he’s consistently been a top-12 driver in F1, which Stroll isn’t.

This is pure speculation, but Gasly is signed to RB through ‘23, so if they don’t promote him next year it’s never going to happen. But Alpine have Ocon locked in for three more seasons, and they have Oscar Piastri (pretty much a can’t-miss prospect) in their stable, so going after Gasly wouldn’t make a ton of sense

The Mercedes-Williams situation isn’t the same as Red Bull-Alpha Tauri, who fall under the same ownership. There is literally just one guy who decides who drives where at RB/AT.

That’s the thing. People love complaining about Horner but look at how Wolff handled this situation. He flat out lied when he was confronted with this question, saying he would never block a move like Albon’s, before backtracking the next day by saying Red Bull would have to drop him first.

Yuki was Honda-backed in Japan, but since coming over to Europe, he’s been a Red Bull junior, not a Honda driver. He’s in that seat because he was the most impressive driver in F2 last season (generally quicker than Mick, for instance), and Marko absolutely loves him. His struggles this season have been quite shocking

Nobody was kneecapped. It’s an awful take.

Can you give an example of anyone they’ve ‘kneecapped’? I’d love to hear it.

Check out Red Bull’s junior program right now… it’s absolutely loaded. Albon has a zero percent chance to ever drive for Red Bull again.

You’re severely overrating Albon here. He’s a fringe F1 talent that got a Red Bull seat for basically ‘not being Gasly’.

They were teammates in F2 in back in 2018, and it wasn’t even close. I’m not a huge Albon fan, but he’s considerably better than Latifi.

If that shocked you, then learning that Alonso lost three titles by a combined 8 points will make you fall out of your chair.

(Button outscored him over three seasons… don’t worry I won’t tell anyone)

It’s Albon, according to Racefans.net (who usually aren’t in the business of posting BS). Red Bull will temporarily release him, whatever that means.
