The application process is quite intensive as they do everything quite quickly. After sending in your CV they’ll ask you to fill out a sunmarized version on their site and after analysis you’ll be directed to schedule a time for a first interview and a 10-minute sample class (you’ll have the material beforehand). If

Fuck me, I love office supplies and I’m constantly rearranging them to get to the ~optimal~ location for everything. I almost cried tears of joy when I bought a really tall chest of drawers from the Container Store and was able to find drawer organizers that fit the drawers perfectly. I’m still fiddling with it all

It is a teaching job. I’ll be teaching ESL to Chinese kids. The schedule has the downside of having to adapt to Beijing time (classes start really early in the morning for us here, and during the weekend you can teach all night long if you want to, which I don’t). I can teach as much as I want to and it’s quite

Oh my god I’m so sorry for all this.

You’re still quite young - I went back to college for another degree at the age of 27 and even though I don’t work in the area I graduated I still think it was a valid experience. You should totally do it, especially since you’re interested after getting to know the day-by-day of the job, which is the part people

Awwww she’s adorable!!! Hopefully she’ll get rid of the CPAP soon, we’re rooting for her!

I’m sorry, I should’ve specified! It’s just that lots of people know Amy from pictures I post here every Saturday, so it didn’t even cross my mind to remind everyone, hey, they’re dogs. Good thing it made you laugh in the end though ;)

Aw man, it sucks. And did I understand it right? Are the dates of their deaths close? I’m so sorry.

Thanks so much, Jinni. Your comments always make me smile :)

I’m sorry for your loss(es). Don’t feel guilty about not going to get your dad’s ashes, death must be liberating and not something else to feel guilt over. He’s gone and he doesn’t really care what happened to his remains, and with that history anyone else would’ve had a hard time caring deeply about the body of

You should feel famous and accomplished, that cake is AWESOME!

I’m reentering the workforce after 4 long years of compulsory unemployment, so right now I’m organizing my home office and gathering the equipment and supplies I’ll need. I bought a desk today! I’m anxious but also excited, if it makes sense.

It helps. It helps organize my head, and the worse I feel, the more I write. It feels like after writing the things that worry me are inhabiting somewhere else (the paper), so my head can get a bit of rest from obsessing about shit all day long.

Congrats on the kids! Seeing them make progress is always heartwarming :) And I’m sure the kitten is lovely but in this pic I’m getting a “Imma cut you, motherfucker” kinda vibe.

Oh God I’m so sorry.

If a picture of a baby seal has no effect on a person it’s because they have no feelings. Thank you for this :)

Thanks! Amy really seems to have a strange effect on people. If you look at her “in person”, you’ll notice her head and legs are too small for her body, she has a chunky torso and her ears stand uneven and all over the place. Her tail is broken at the base and has healed at a 90 degree angle, so it’s always sideways.

Hello lovely people. This is me on this day of emotional opposites:

She’s as white as it’s possible to be. The Latina label is just that, a label that indicates our national origin and identifies us once we’re in the US, but many Brazilians are white. I’m from Brazil and my ancestors are Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Eastern European, and I’m as pale as Gisele.

Brazilian here. We normally don’t think about it until we come to the US and need to redefine our identity. Here I’m Latina, which is something people/institutions need to know about me, and it’s fine. We’re not Hispanics though, as our language isn’t Spanish.
