Maybe fresh KK crullers (which I can’t really remember trying), but definitely not the prepackaged KK crullers which are completely different in texture from their fresh doughnuts or crullers in general. True crullers get their texture from eggs as they’re made with choux pastry and they have a very different texture

We’ve had a mochi doughnut place in San Francisco Japantown for a few years now. They were interesting to get as a novelty at first, but I liken the texture to the chewiness of a Krispy Kreme when you first bite down except that’s all there is - spongy chew and more spongy chew. They’re very much a one trick pony and

It’s a bit odd how many of the “compensated activity” and “previous suspicious review activity” locations are in Southern California. Maybe the list branches out more if I were to scroll further, but that just struck me as “odd”....

I think my only sentimental connection to Rite-Aid is that they took over Thrifty Drugs and left most of Thrifty’s ice cream counters in place in my area, but all the RA’s in San Francisco were eventually taken over by Walgreens so that all ended. There is one Rite-Aid in the Bay Area that I know of that still has its

As a lover of grape jelly meatballs at a cocktail party (or “concord grape reduction” depending on how uppity the guests list is) I like the idea of the sweet & spicy jam. It doesn’t really sound like the same thing, but I’ll give it a try.

Don’t people say the same thing about Gritty....

I definitely expect to see “with extra Italy” as an option on the OG menu in the near future. I can’t believe their marketing department hadn’t already come up with this.

Yep, I purchase Portofino (Mediterranean Yellowfin packed in olive oil) from Costco, they often have sales that make it less that $1 per can, though normally it sells for $1.25/can in an 8 pack.

I still remember going to see Planes, Trains & Automobiles when it first came out and I had just turned 7. There was a loud drunken man nearby cussing and yelling at the screen and eventually people had him removed (even I could tell he was drunk just from portrayals of drunk people in the media, my mother didn’t

some of which don’t even involve Nicole Kidman

Yes, and you have to pay a lot more for that luxury...

Actually, I’ve been practicing for them:

Many moons ago (still in this century) I used to open at an Arby’s so I would have to prep and cook the “roasts” for most of the first part of the day. Raw, they were the funkiest mystery-meat looking congealed flesh masses I’ve ever seen (and I’m an avid horror movie fan). I was never sure it was really beef when

I’m almost always a savory breakfast eater, but if it’s just coffee and a “bread” I’m going to need something sweet to balance out the coffee’s bitterness - I’m just to0 American!

Headline from the near future...

The only good thing about an article like this is that many of these items link back to earlier Takeout articles back when you use to provide useful information like recipes, not just the cavalcade of fast food restaurant advertisements masquerading as “articles” that you regurgitate out these days.

I didn’t realize being left handed was so political!

There are far more people who are left handed than who are neurodivergent to the point of true food aversion.

Should have stuck with grass, man....

The vast majority of children aren’t neurodivergent (despite the rash of people self-diagnosing themselves thanks to TikTok and the like) and most of us when we’re talking about general situations are by definition not discussing special cases. I’m sure there are lots of other “neurodivergence” forums where they would
