Seriously. Not only will this be TMZ, ET and every morning talk show fodder for months to come, but Smollett will jump at every chance to get on TV, try to clear his name and get a new job.

I mean I can be mad at George Zimmerman being found innocent, hundreds of cops not facing any murder charges, and still think that Jussie was guilty and deserved jail time. It’s not all mutually exclusive.
But with all 16 felony charges the “Empire” star was facing dropped and his record expunged, prayerfully this will be the last we hear about this.
I’m absolutely certain the only reason the didn’t set it during WW2 was to avoid Captain America comparisons.
I thought the WWI setting mostly worked, because of its well-earned reputation as a horrifyingly pointless and devastating war. It makes it the perfect counterpoint for Wonder Woman’s absurd good humor and love and all that sweet stuff.
It’s funny the different reactions that over-the-top scene in Wonder Woman can provoke. For me, the appropriation of that First World War trope for a superhero Crowning Moment of Awesome just made my brain start screaming ‘WRONG WRONG WRONG’.
...Except originally, he was the Son of Fu Manchu! back when Marvel had the rights to the Sax Rohmer character / walking racist trope. They now no longer refer to Shang-Chi’s father by that name, but it’s an interesting history to address/rewrite in a film with a Chinese protagonist.
Can Groot beat him up too? To make up for that awful tree movie.
A proper kung fu MCU movie sounds great.
Hey, at least Lowe went along with all the mockery of his reputation! I kind of liked that the movie made him a scumbag who likes banging women significantly younger than him, and he just steered right into the skid.
I honestly think the sequel is more enjoyable even if it’s clearly a lesser film. Wayne’s World is far more interested in being just kind of strange than being a laugh a minute, but it’s got the feel for its 90's-rock-losers-surrounded-by-exploiters milieu DOWN, almost like Blues Brothers did for the feel of the world…
Wayne’s World is a perfect movie. Every scene is funny and full of random flourishes (multiple endings), cinematic devices (focus pulls) and vignettes (Garth drum solo) that is clearly the work of an incredible director. There’s a reason why the sequel wasn’t nearly as good.
First, he figured out how to monetize independent cinema via films like Pulp Fiction and Clerks. Then, he pioneered the Oscar campaign, to the point that for a while, if you were associated with a Weinstein, your project had almost a certain chance of at least being nominated for an Oscar. After that, it’s just a…
I think it was more that he held so much power and for so long, that people just put up with him. He could make or end your career—and did with a lot of people—so you either shut up and suffered or walked away. I know a few actresses who stood up to him got to enjoy their careers, but they also tended to have powerful…
Oh hey look, another alt-right troll using BAA as the new Vivian James for your hate boner towards Captian Marvel
It would have been wonderful if Alita: Battle Angel got a fraction of the attention of Captain Marvel on this site and io9. Captain Marvel will do more than fine because it’s a Marvel movie set before the biggest Marvel movie in history, and a sequel is all but inevitable regardless of how much press coverage you…
Well, just came out of the 11:30 3D screening at Disney Springs.
Yep. Nonsensical.
A Shane Black movie where Riggs & Murtaugh have flying robot suits and are played by Robert Downey Jr. and Don Cheadle? What kind of asshole wouldn’t be excited about that?
I cannot imagine anyone who hears about a new MCU movie and thinks, “Well, I’d better check those Rotten Tomato scores before I buy a ticket.”
