Holy hell, this comment.
Holy hell, this comment.
When the Democrats have finally decided whether to fix our car with a wrench or a screwdriver, it won’t matter because the Republicans will have thrown away the toolbox.
Yeah, this is my take, too. I’m actually really excited to see this movie... when I can stream it. I apparently can’t be bothered to drag my ass to the theater to watch a movie whose events I lived through as a Peace Corps volunteer!
You should be waaaay out of the grays around here.
And, to be frank, there are plenty of policies which would help this country which aren’t narrowly focused on pieces of a larger problem. Desiring one’s message to be the only message, and employing tactics which are meant to silence and disrupt against political allies is more than a little egocentric.
So to punish the Democrats for that (if it’s even an accurate assessment) you would doom our public schools to be dictated to by a Republican agenda of demonizing teachers and their unions, watering down scientific texts to the point they are meaningless, have federal funds for education completely removed, and having…
I would condescend to infantile interruptions of my speech as well. These “protesters” should be the ones to “do better”. They asked for a plan.....then prevent her from laying it put by pointless chanting. No listening.....except to themselves.
This group is effectively marginalizing themselves with their infantile antics. You want her to present a plan....then prevent her from presenting it?! Indescribably useless. Oh wait....these are same same people who “occupied” Wall Street until they were ignored and went home, aren't they?
So am I, but if Hillary wins the nomination, I’m voting for her (or frankly, whoever ends up being the Democratic nominee). That is all I’m saying. The stakes are too high to give any advantage at all to the GOP.
So, just let the GOP candidate win, then. Because that’s better than being pragmatic. Got it.
Yeah, I say the same thing to Sanders supporters when I hear them sounding like they won’t vote because they aren’t getting everything they want. Sometimes things are really important. So you fuck off, “dude.”
Since Jezebel and its privileged young white readership are in the tank for Sanders, I’m not surprised that this article not only leaves out a very important aspect of this incident, it also sells the fiction that BLM represents the black electorate in any meaningful way. Hell, even the unofficial leaders or…
Gay/minority rights, Obamacare, reversals of deregulation, etc. but I also fear losing even more in terms of abortion rights, open access to voting, and encironmental laws that the Republicans have been chipping away at. If we lose another seat on the Supreme Court to a conservative like Scalia, we can kiss it all…
Assuming Clinton is the Dem nominee, would you really be okay with a Republican winning the presidency because people refused to hold their nose and vote for Clinton? Do you really rhink there would be little difference?
“Hillary Clinton is running for president of the United States. She has to come up with ways to claim what she wants to happen to really happen,” said Goonathilaka.
“a cookie-cutter black conversation”
I think that was kind of why she originally responded the way she did. If she did have a policy all cut out of whole cloth, they would have torn it to pieces and accused her of trying to force her own misguided solutions on the community instead of asking what they wanted. It’s the quintessential problem for strong…
There’s no pleasing some people.
I don’t have the right perspective to identify with #blacklivesmatter because I am a white male. If elements of the movement feel the need to protest Clinton and Sanders and feel it will be effective, then keep doing it. (I’m not giving permission either; it’s not mine to give.)
It sort of looks like a white savior movie, though, and that may have had some effect. The ads I saw for it definitely telegraphed that there’d be a cornball ending, but didn’t do much to indicate that the comedy preceding it would be all that black. It seemed like pretty mainstream stuff there.
