Asking for advice on an auto enthusiast site with an active comment section is hardly the worst decision someone with money to blow could make.

You missed an important one. The HOV lane.

I have noticed people get over very quickly for me when I’m driving my ‘15 Explorer Sport whereas when I’m driving any of my other vehicles, they rarely get over and just stay in the left lane.

The middle lane is still the passing lane because in some jurisdictions trucks are banned from being in the left lane.  If you’re travelling in the middle lane all you’re doing is pissing off truckers trying to pass slow or merging traffic in the right lane.

Out in SoCal, we have a big problem with drivers in the carpool lane going 5-10 mph SLOWER than the rest of the traffic on the right. Speaking from personal experience, these people are also deaf and/or blind since no amount of honking, high-beam flashing or tailgating will make them move over or increase their speed

Nobody dies by going too fast.  They die by running into things.

I was reading this while driving down interstate on my way to work. I have to say everything is spot-on. Dealing with all these asshats that can’t drive makes it take way longer to get through articles like this.

Here in Maryland the left lane is exclusively for cruising.  If you happen to pass someone while cruising, great, but that is nothing more than a happy coincidence.

All good points above. I travel on the interstate frequently for work, and one of my biggest pet peeves is when I’m passing someone on the left, and the person I’m passing suddenly looks up from their phone, realizes they are being passed, and accelerates to match my passing speed. This puts me in the tough position

The greatest flaw we have in our driving system is that we have no mechanism to inform someone that they are going too slow in the left lane and need to move right. It’s so dangerous to have to ride someone’s tail long enough for them to get the message that they aren’t left lane material (and that’s assuming they’re

The pair of cars pacing each other, side by side, in the left and middle (or left and right) lanes, for MILES at a time, doing 68 mph, both unaware or uninterested in the dozens of cars lined up behind them, working together to perfectly encapsulate the oblivious and utterly self-absorbed nature of the average

I’d like to add another extremely important one:

My preferred alternative to brake-checking is to wash my windshield repeatedly.  The faster we’re going--i.e., the more dangerous the tailgating--the more spray ends up on the tailgater’s windshield.  Yes, this is inspired by my childhood love of Spy Hunter.

Also, on a six-lane highway (3 lanes in one direction), move out of the middle lane if you are not passing anyone as you effectively turn six lanes into 4 lanes.

If you are driving an 18-wheeler on the interstate, do not move into the left lane to pass another 18-wheeler when you’re about to go uphill, especially if you are blocking other cars in the left lane also attempting to pass said slow 18-wheeler on the hill. This rule takes on extra importance on I-40 between Hickory

Also, hey truckers. You don’t HAVE to swerve into the left lane as soon as you come upon a slower vehicle in the right lane. Especially if it is going to take you 10 bleeping miles to pass another truck.

Also remember to accelerate as you are on the on ramp and prior to trying to actually merge with the traffic on the highway. Think of the on ramp as your runway to get up to speed so that you can enter the highway safely.

Pissing off a bunch of guys who probably make like $15 an hour always ends poorly

a $900 doc fee at a kia dealer lol

Tom, is $899 for a Document Fee, then an additional $433 for License/Title fee, typical? That seems pretty high to me, but I don’t buy new cars all that often. Almost $1350 on top of tax, delivery, and then the car itself seems insane; regardless if you’re getting $9k off...
