Sounds to me like you've just been victim to too many mean-spirited pranks. Pranks can be really fun, when done right. My oldest daughter and I prank each other all the time. She's got a good healthy bit of cynicism because of it.

I think that there's a good comedy lesson here in not expecting people to be automatically familiar with you or your material. This is an If-Then joke, which gets used a lot in satire particularly.

That's just shifting the blame. No one has an obligation to like you, and if a woman isn't interested in you, it's not necessarily because she's shallow or "entitled to the studly men."
