Owned a C, regularly looked longingly at S’s, no way in hell anyone that gives 0.00245 of a shit would mistake one for the other. Just one color differentiator’s opinion

FTR all 911s (excepting maybe the 993's) have had a low point where “everyone hates that one” and ALL of them have gone to the other side of that and climbed to insane values.
I posted this a couple years ago as a logical offering of why...
Can I get in on the flamesuit? Had one on the coast, also couldn’t get out of it’s own way. I don’t put top priority on straight line acceleration but when your daily driver family-man sedan can smoke it.... VERY fun little car that I will remember with respect but it belongs back on top of the heap with the modded…
Miata is not ALWAYS the answer. While admittedly everything everyone gushes about I was tired of one before 6 months was up and moved on to a Z32 as the car fitting your requirements above.
Actually MUCH worse, this thing is so far from what it started out as you’d spend the asking price trying to get it to being something respectable (and I, in no way, mean trying to restore it to original).
I remember 2010, when I bought a ‘75 911s project car, it ran (very very poorly) it looked mostly complete (but wasn’t nearly) but had a LOT of good points.... for half the current bid on this poor thing. Then I remember in 2014 when I sold her for just under $20k thinking I’d done good because I got back about every…
He gets a NP simply for the impeccable detail job and outstanding photography IMO
Why all the plasti-hate Mr. Robber? As a semi-serial dipper that represents as full-on Jalop it’s an easy, relatively cheap, personal expression device. Quite easily reversed & in my experience no worse than any $299 paint job one could get slapped on their car.
I think “hate” is way strong for the Z/G35, but general displeasure given the much better options is probably accurate. At the time I had an ‘03 S2k my wife had an 04 G35 Coupe and later I had an ‘06 Z Roadster. The G was pretty nice to drive and felt near enough to luxurious, the Roadster has horrible interior…
I have to say, while understanding your query, I disagree entirely with your premise. I have had the pleasure/joy/luxury of owning many attainable sports cars, a bunch of classics and several [near] luxury cars. Excepting the few I just hated driving (and therefore went away VERY quickly) each one stands out in my…
I agree with your triple it in theory but only if, like yourself, you are in a position to have to farm out all your own work.
That’s why I said “ragged out” it will probably be either really rough or salvage (or both) ;-) - full disclosure: I sold my 911 about a year ago and each of these discussions makes me feel like I did a little too cheaply/early
“I’ve never driven a vehicle in my entire life that attracts as much attention as my Nissan Skyline GT-R”
Really isn’t a bad price, 10 years ago, yes, but today no. If the right guy comes along willing to work on it himself, take what it is w/ a grain of salt and improve upon what IS there he could be in a really fun car for half to 2/3rds the going rate (which seems to be going up lately sharply). Not everything is a…
I feel you don’t understand who Tavarish is attempting to speak to in his posts. The brand new Mercedes demographic don’t want to know where the hood latch handle is, and there’s no sense debating their reasoning or means here. The used Mercedes demographic breaks into 2 camps with slightly different goals but similar…
Your entire argument was rendered moot by the use of the word "irregardless" :-D
Dammit DeMuro, now I have to go find out what Tentacle Porn is
Sadly this is about the first time I'm going to disagree wholeheartedly with your presentation of friday morning goof-off from work fodder. I've looked into this swap, you are going to drop a min. of $10k to get the conversion kit and a donor LS (that's not even talking a more modern bad a$$ LS) Then the various and…
I adore my very upgraded (and nicely appreciating) air-cooled 911, but there's no way I want to drive it 365 days/year for several reasons. Mechanically solid.... very much so for a 40 year old car but... it's a 40 year old car and wants attention MUCH more than a modern machine. For me, I'm strongly considering…
