I have a copy of that book that is so well loved that it barely resembles a book anymore, mine was purchased around 1992 and I’ve referred to it hundreds of times. Interestingly enough my Dad just last week gifted me with a black and white spiral bound version with a print date of 1976, that one is going on the shelf

I once had this explained to me, much like every other square mm on the w124 a lot of thought went into that funky mirror arrangement by some very very picky people....... that said, I agree with you and it drives my OCD nuts every time I look my car head on

Those be early 90's Honda Civic seats my good sir.

Damn you! Now I’m off on a Stinger tangent.

I casually looked for one of these a few years ago. Getting a “running” one that looks like a garbage heap and would still have you leery of driving further than the other side of town sounds MUCH worse to me than getting this one that appears mostly pristine with the guarantee that the first thing I have do is make

I can’t wait to buy one of these in 25 years for $3,000, the screen won’t work quite right anymore (because the last software update was supported only up until 2038) but the KIRIKO glass will still look fantastic!

I apologize, I’ve never lived somewhere that had that level of restriction on my project cars, I didn’t mean to assume.

Most any 944 is not exactly a winning $ proposition, you do it for the feels. You could get a reasonably nice one for <$4k, but it sounds like you could get your’s back on the road for <$1k and some elbow grease.

I think your first mistake was “My mechanic...” No working man’s project car is ever worth enough to have others perform the grunt work, hell I think exactly TWICE in my life I’ve broken even or better when all I had to count was parts.

Good Call!  Had a friend with a Celebrity, he did that same sort of thing to it in blue.........in 1992, hopefully it’s resting in pieces.

Did someone say 944 Pup Content?

I get the email every morning, scroll through to see if there are a couple of interesting cars I didn’t know something about and keep an eye on the “market” for either of my old toys.

You need more stars, those should be summarily deleted from the discussion

sniff...sniff.... why did I let you go?

When you do it will ruin you, it’s sublime

This^!!!! (and also the $70k pickup comment)!!! Drives me insane.

Fair and true point...... but some of us prefer convertibles and like that there were even less of those made (~5000 total).

The term “Frunk” has been around a lot longer than “the kids” my dear...

Umm, me thinks your argument doesn’t hold water bub.  You would have a broken, beaten NA 944 for $1500 (which certainly can be found) then you would spend $6-8 thousand trying to get it to be half-way decent and then you would have a pretty beater NA that’s worth $4k.

Because you really dig what a 944 is/was. I don’t really understand the arguments in this daily question about “what else could you buy”. You could also get a 10 year old Accord that will likely out accelerate, have less maintenance and let you blend in with the masses better for that price or...or...or....
