Yeaaaaah, I hope it’s at least somewhat of a new take on “My fragile masculinity feels threatened by feminism”. I still plan on seeing it, but I hope it doesn’t end up having too regressive gender dynamics.

I think it’s hilarious that an anonymous internet commenter is afraid of “the wrath”, in a world where a byline on a published article can lead to literal death threats.

I clubbed a pensioner to death for rolling tobacco, it’s true.

The stores in my village ran out of bread, milk and eggs [... t]hankfully, they still had beer and cigarettes in stock

Fear the wrath from whom? I haven’t even seen the author chime in here yet. If you have a different take on the matter, by all means, let’s hear it.

1) But the only outrage is self-generated. Kondabolu produced a (in my mind) thoughtful documentary in which he tackles minority representation in popular culture through the lens of The Simpsons. He repeatedly talks about how much he loves The Simpsons, how funny he finds Apu to be, and how conflicted he feels in

Oh christ. It’s like he’s specifically designed to trigger me.

it’s much easier to believe generations of Indian children are being bullied or made fun of because of an outdated POC stereotype on a popular tv show than it is to think of white kids being teased as “haha you’re Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel!”

The latter of which has probably never happened while the former is

Can’t wait to see how civil the comments are going to be...

“influenced by Family Guy, to its great benefit” is a thing that is never true about anything, not even Family Guy.

This website has an overt anti Simpsons bias, and it has gone on for far too long now.

There was a smarter, funnier plot buried in the Marge and Lisa story. Let Lisa be horrified by the book, both for its racism and for its assumptions about how girls should behave. Have Marge cling to her nostalgia and only come around after really talking to Lisa. Instead we got a plot where Marge basically acted like

What possible subject matter could this money be spent on putting to screen? I guess that I’m operating under the impression that it won’t be the Silmarillion, if only because I read something about it allegedly setting up the existing films. Is there anything obvious within a century prior to the Hobbit or LotR?

Kinda like Jewish guys making Jewish jokes and white guys making redneck jokes, it’s okay when you are punching at yourself, it’s not okay when punch down or at others that you cannot relate culturally to

I don’t know if I can link stuff on this site, here it is:

it is. It’s a cut scene from season 1

They spent so much time making us like the character this episode, I just assumed he was going to die by the end. Glad I was wrong.

I’m bummed that they got Ruth Negga to come back for such a bland flashback, considering how outstanding she is. I honestly thought that was existing footage from season one or two.

I like Creel a lot, and not just because he looks like an unrealistic hyper-masculine action figure brought to life. I want him to become a full-on hero.
