Heat form some lexan, bond, rivet, and Bob’s yer uncle.
I try to keep a bottle or two of water in my vehicle. Every once in a while, I’ll see some guy or gal begging for money at an intersection or offramp and I’ll give them one.
Yes, go and see for yourself on the Jeep website. The build option shows it available.
To those reading this, I am willing to commit a felony, including murder, for a Sport Edition. Organs are also for sale.
FCA doesn’t need to build this in a 2 wheel drive to help sales. I’m sure the sales history of Wrangler proves it. Otherwise they would still build them.
You do you, broseph... But don’t come banging on my car window when the aliens from Signs show up.
When people are putting 10k worth of mods to do the same thing the rubicon does... it starts to make sense for those people.
The 4 is equivalent to the Jeep’s 6. Wrap your head around that one.
Yup. I keep crossing my fingers that Jeep will do their own half doors. Hopefully with child locks on the rear. I have an autistic child, so the aftermarket solutions are a no go.
I'm not a Jeep guy at all, but even I know Jeeps die when caged.
Out of curiosity, do these come with a decent undercoating so they don't qualify for your fleet in a couple of years?
they have two bars that act like doors at the auto show. they go on the lower door frame
This is excellent, David. Great writing and descriptions. I am very eager to get behind the wheel at an upcoming media drive and hoping to throw my enclosed race trailer on the back of one. It weighs about 6,500 lbs loaded up, but the real challenge for Gladiator (and other “midsize” trucks) will be how they handle…
Nice job mr Tracy; please keep up the good work and helping satisfy my Jeep fix and distracting me from real life
Nice explanation. And if you are going to be towing up Davis Dam (or similar), it matters. On the other hand, the highest hill within about 200 miles of me is a highway overpass, so I am just not going to worry about it.
Its going to be interesting to see what people towing near max with their mods are going to experience regarding the derate strategy. Side question: what does elevation do to cooling systems efficiency? Obviously air density decreases, do you have a rule of thumb for what happens per 1000 feet? Im rarely if ever…
First of all, thank you for your always excellent deep dives.
Excellent article. I think it’s valuable to give us non-engineers a peak into how much know-how and testing goes into every aspect of a new vehicle design.
I love this article. What a great in-depth write-up. I do remember them specifically saying the lower diesel tow rating due to the intercooler in the initial interviews, so I don’t think that’s a secret. But that said, I think this article really made me understand the whole setup better. Nicely done!
