I owned a 2006 Phaeton with a V8 .. one of the last imported here. It as a phenomenal car, but as it got close to the warranty expiring, I started asking about general maintenance and potential failure items with the mechanics at the local VW shop (only a few VW dealers are allowed to work on them ... the require a

I do think they’re overusing that particular word for effect in headlines. Once in a great while, it can be impactful. Every day (as is happening across the Gawker sites), you’re just aiming for lowest-common-denominator click bait garbage.

Meh. VW’s very own V-10 TDI produced close enough to that amount of torque more than a decade ago, and for $200,000 less. This is not progress, folks ... just slightly more dead cow.

Crack Pipe. Huge huff off of the world’s greatest crack pipe. I can only imagine the flame this would create for NPoCP.

That rear ... I might need some alone time. Don’t knock on the door. You’ll be ignored.

This is why pilots need excellent depth perception (and completely mandatory in the US flying services). That pilot was hotdogging it and misjudged just how close the water was. Dude’s gonna be in trouble with command, and he need a new appointment with his optometrist.

Hmm.

I dig the experience that Robb Holland has, but this is the second “money is no issue” car review ... granted this one is $60k and the last one is likely to be $200k+. His reviews are on driving a car at 10/10ths, some which we mere plebes can only hope to do ... maybe once ... and survive the code brown at

Expensive maintenance ... that’s a big 10-4. In for thousands on mine.

Get that battery pack that doesn’t suck ... as in not the P70 ... but the P85 or above ... and it starts at $87k. Out of my league, and frankly for that money, there are many more cars I’d own first.

Correct. But is lacks:

Nope ... likely a tire jack storage. The structural engineer for the basic wagon says there isn’t room for a third row. My MB wagon begs to disagree.

The basic wagon says there’s not enough structural room to add third row seating in the wagon ... only in the huge-ass SUV. That compartment is likely for a tire jack or something ...
