If someone decides you are crazy and should not be able to handle your own affairs (but still work and make money) the only thing you can do is prove you are not crazy and handle your own affairs.....but they won’t let her even do that. There is no way for her to prove she doesn’t need it. Trapped in a well.

You would probably have to go back to Bess Truman to find a First Lady who was more clearly uninterested in the role. She never wanted it, did the bare minimum in terms of entertaining, shunned the press, and was frequently absent from DC. She was also anti-Semitic.

The role of first lady is 100% unpaid labor. It looks to me like she was doing the bare minimum for a ‘job’ she didn’t want in the most graceless, alienating way possible.

I love how Melania refused to use a toilet also used by QUEEN Michelle Obama, but was more than happy to steal her speeches and initiatives :P
