Grifting like Trump.

my father was, until recently, using a 2011 13" macbook for photoshop, quark and video editing (retired professional graphic designer doing passion projects)

he decided (for no actual good reason) that it wasn’t good enough anymore, so my daughter gave him her 2015 15" macbook. it should last until he dies.

the problem with single sided anything (especially in a mountain bike) is that it applies asymmetric loads to the frame and steerer tube, with both requires a beefed up frame and introduces handling funnies.

and also the inability to buy replacement parts for any reasonable price.

I’ll just sit over here in the corner eating my foie gras and drinking a nice Nuits St. Georges, while waiting for my Porterhouse with Truffle Butter and Truffled potatoes Dauphinois and haricots verts. after dinner I will relax with a nice 1963 vintage port and a Cohiba.

so, you can get trapped in the bedroom by a guest pooper?

the biggest problem with the i3 was not the electric range, it was the fact that the range extender couldn’t keep the battery charged (i.e. even when running as hard as it could, it couldn’t recharge faster than the battery depleted in normal driving) forcing you to still stop and recharge on a long trip.

one car I have no interest in ever seeing (live or museum) is a veyron/chiron/whatever’snextron

I’m surprised they didn’t name it Murderbot.

While you can go from one end of Europe to the other by train, much more of it’s purpose is intercity hops.”

exactly, and the major cities are much closer so rail is more compelling.  add in significant government subsidies and sensible gas taxes and rail becomes cheaper and nicer than driving.

even where it should be - say 400 miles from Boston to Rochester NY. there is a direct line, but on amtrak it takes 10-12 hours. train top speed 80, stops every 40 miles on average, have to change trains and layover in albany. it is a 6 hour drive, and costs 65 to 95 per person. gas & tolls for my civic is <$50 for up

is it wrong that I want one of these so much more than a real DeLorean?

especially the black one, that looks sharp.

how about this: stop being a compulsive consumer and spend the holidays with those human beings who are precious to you and airing your grievances.

and this farce of pretending america (as a whole) gives a fuck about any “holidays” other than christmas is crap. just ask anyone who is of a religion other than christian

my daughter and her fiance just bought the eGo mower, they have about 1 full acre of grass to mow and are just about able to do it on 1 of the 7.5 Ah batteries. they also bought the leaf blower which comes with a 2.5 Ah, so if the 7.5 runs out they swap and there is plenty of juice to finish. for reference, a similar

people in Europe are much more likely to use public transit than people in the US, even when you compare places in the US with good public transit.

in general distances in europe are shorter than the US and if you live in a city in europe and are travelling to a city in europe it is much more likely to

pretty sure Lewis and Clark were not Confederates, given that they both died long before the Civil War. (i.e. you could at least pick a lede photo that is relevant to the article)

they did some bad shit, but they weren’t Confederates.

the corning museum is worth the trip, some amazing shit there.

the functional glass exhibits are my jam (telescope mirrors, lenses etc) but the art and decorative glass is amazing too, also the live demo where one of the artists in residence makes some random thing while you watch and someone in the audience gets to
