For a good reason though. These are still based on the same U-Body structure dating back to the 90s, so they have the structural integrity of tofu.

No Macan clone with three pedals, no sale.

Those steelies need to come back.

Bolt-on supercharger kits were actually much more common, I knew a few guys on the forums who have it. Especially for the earlier Ecotec builds where the walls were thicker and more suitable for forced induction.

Well because of its parts bin nature, it’s not that hard to upkeep. Pretty much aside from the body panels most of the parts are still in stock one way or another. Right now on my car I have door handles from an HHR and Cobalt, lugnuts from an Impala, front wheel bearing from a Malibu. The most common failure would

That was the Opel GT, not Speedster.

Pics or it didn’t happen...

Eh... I think you’re getting it mixed up.

Ehm...wasn’t the Solstice just a rebodied Opel Speedster?

Just came back out from storage last week.

With all these cars disappearing, I kept picturing some Chinese company will pick up the tooling and start making them again.

Nothing a little plastidip can’t fix.

I’m sorry but this kind of sloppy re-bodying/re-trimming is something GM would do on a Tahoe. It has no place on a Lexus.

Too bad this thing is still based on this and will crumple like tofu in a crash.

That sounds like a track car in the making. Or a rolling chassis for a Mallett V8.

Yeah... well, door hardware vs door panel.

Second time was my fault actually. The door cable clip was damaged last time and I didn’t replace the cable (they didn’t sell the clip only, you have to buy the entire lock and cable mechanism), then the cable got stuck and I pulled the handle, broke the cable retainer of the handle.

Parts aren’t that uncommon, especially the mechanical parts. The most common failure is the water pump, which is common with a lot of other cars with the Ecotec.

As an owner of one... can confirm.
