VW has never been known for outlandish, daring designs, but..

I’ve been staring at VWs (of all generations) for a very long time and this is....odd. There are some characteristic styling cues in there, for sure, but the total package doesn’t look like something from them. It looks more like a Chinese knockoff of a Mitsubishi, for some reason.

The copy in the lower right is appropriate because fresh from the factory this looks like a Chinese knock off.

I’ve said it before, and I’m saying it now; You can take any car off-road...its how many times you can do it that’s the issue.
