Everyone tries to over complicate things with birthrates, maternity leave, daycare, blah, blah, blah. The problem is women have too many options other than giving birth.

Isn’t that basically the US strategy? Our birth rate here in the US is not that much better than Italy’s but we have lots of immigrants.

Low birthrate = crappy workforce. Italy would have to start begging people from other countries to come live and work there. Japan is going to have to do that soon. Either that or the GDP and the economy suffer.
