It only would have helped if the first truck had more traction. But I'm guessing that is why the red truck bailed, because in this situation it is useless.

This sounds awesome. I just wonder how "sporty" that motor is going to be. Power wise obviously it is there or it is easy to get there. I have the 6.6L Duramax in my 07 chevy 2500 hd truck so i am well aware of its power potential, but i am interested to see how it feels when its not in an 8000lb truck. This like…
So technically that is a 6 Link? Of all the videos i watched just now on the dodge "engineers" explaining the new suspension design, none of them had that upper link shock thing installed. There were 4 bolts on the diff housing that show where the bracket bolts to it, but nothing was there.
Oh i totally just noticed that. I was referring to the bar running behind the col springs parallel with the axle. I did not notice that shock looking thing coming out of the top of the housing...My guess is to somehow dampen the axle wrap? That is weird.
Doesn't slip. Keeps the axle centered more rigidly than just the 4 link arms do.
Good point. Completely forgot about that.
No Cummins option?
I want to know. What vehicle do you drive? Do you actually tow regularly or are you just assuming towing is difficult because you see some people who are stupid with poorly loaded trailers or driving too fast etc? And please help me understand how having a CDL instantly would make a person better at towing?
1) It isn't that hard already to get a CDL. The hardest part is finding a semi to take the driving test with.
its 26,000lbs. Combined. Doesnt matter where the weight is located I.E. truck or trailer.
In CA I have seen CHP officers plenty of times pull over pickups towing construction equipment or other heavy loads. There are CHP pickup trucks and in the back of them they have scales, and tools to "dip" the diesel tanks to make sure that red diesel isnt being used etc. So there is no guarantee that they catch…
Also, The process to get your CDL teaches you nothing about how to secure loads safely or load trailers properly. There is some common knowledge shit like place the weight over the axles, but nothing that is critical or secret to only people with a CDL that somehow makes them far superior at loading or towing. At…
There are new SAE standards that require trucks to pass braking tests before the tow rating can be given for a truck. Is the test towing down a 15% grade with 20,000lbs and no trailer brakes? no. But it is something. The truck has plenty of brakes on it. Air brakes provide a lot of benefits in that regard, but…
Bad example because 5th wheel toy haulers have a very set weight distribution. They can only support so much additional weight and when they are being designed the engineers take this weight into consideration so buying a 5th wheel from a manufacturer and not some custom janky one is a very safe thing to do and…
It doesn't matter how the truck or driver is regulated. CDL or not the truck would still be on the same roads as your cars with all the same weight so the potential for a terrible accident would still exist. Getting a CDL isn't very hard. Yes most semi truck drivers are very good but there are still those that got…
Technically the F450 is a commercial vehicle. However the F350 and F250 are not.
There was a thread not too long ago about SAE test criteria for pick up trucks. In the test format there are braking tests and requirements. I once had the same argument as many of you, that the issue isnt getting such heavy loads going it is stopping them, but after reading the new format for how ratings are…
What happens if you (or a fire fighter that buys this truck) either 1) decides to sell it, or 2) retires as a fire fighter. Is it illegal to sell vehicles with strobe lights to ordinary citizens? I have amber (and a few white hide-a-way) strobes on my truck for volunteer work I do, and they were easy to buy as a…
I agree with Viperfan1. All these new safety features we are putting on cars, in my opinion, are leading people and drivers to believe that they need to be less focused on driving now because if they were to get into a dangerous situation their car would brake for them, or keep them from having to look over their…
