Damn it, this means that the New York Yankees have cornered the market on full-on Wellingtons (Caceres and Diaz).

I was wondering what they do with lava once its encroached on “settled” land. Removal seemed unlikely, but building on top of it seemed about as unlikely, too. “Our new house has a better view of the ocean and there’s a partially-submerged, burned-out Mustang in the basement!”

This series should prove, once and for all, that of the two Chicago teams, the Cubs have the better catcher with initials “WC” and double-Ls as the third and forth letters of their first name.

In hindsight he dipped a little too heavily into the “noble savage” bin, but I was real-world bummed when Kwinn was killed off. If they could somehow do that arc with just the main players (Snake Eyes, Kwinn, Dr. Venom) that would be a good basis for a movie.

It’s about time art imitated art; the most interesting stories from the books all dealt with Snake Eyes and the his various encounters with the menagerie from his life before GI Joe.

The biggest problem with Star Wars is it became more about toy sales than movie quality. This is no secret to anyone.

This was a problem with RoboForge; it was basically virtual Battle Bots, and while it was fun building/testing bots, in competition it was spinners all the way down and that got kind of boring kinda quick.

Silver lining: he got 10% bump in followers off this.

I can see Luke cutting himself off from the force, as in retrospect his connection to the force has been responsible for everything good or bad that had happened to him and everyone he loves. While in the aggregate his relationship with the force saved billions(?) of people, it took a high personal cost, and since he

Conversely, a whole bunch of below-average people care a LOT about who is under the mask.

It’s impressive in the context we are used to, but this was hardly a group of “hangers-on” like we’d seen in previous expansions.

That’s pretty much what happened, but the larger point is that even though only one team was added that year, there were two teams vying for the castoffs from the rest of the league. I don’t know how it works in other leagues, but the NHL is kind of goofy.

You’re an angry little mutt, aren’t you?

That was actually a weird expansion - the owners of the North Stars wanted to move the franchise, and rather than let them, the NHL gave them an expansion franchise (the Sharks) and let them draft a bunch of players from the North Stars. Then the North Stars and the Sharks drafted from the other teams to round out

McPhee did the absolute best he could have given what was available, but it helps that A) he wasn’t competing with anyone else for those players and B) the league has transformed a LOT since the last expansion, with an emphasis on schemes and tactics, where the 3rd and 4th lines and 3rd D pairings actually matter game

I don’t speak design terminology, so I’ll paraphrase the old definition of pornography: I know ‘off’ when I see it. In this specific case, I’m talking about large empty space where detail is limited to a couple of elements to break up the monotony, then there’s a whole section with so many details there isn’t any

That is patently amazing, but as is the case with most space/Star Wars MOCs, wayyyy too much greebling for my tastes. It just looks ‘off’ when everything else is muted and lumpy, then all of the sudden, here’s all this intricate detail.

Giant Space Dwarves aren’t noted for their design skills.

That might be where Cap/Iron Man get off to when their time comes. The Soul Stone has a price, etc.

Meanwhile, there are literally millions of lines written by professionals, paid for the work, that fall far short of even this. But yeah, you be a gatekeeper.
