I´m right there with you buddy. For a dedicated gauge, a multi display adds nothing. With the exception that it looks more 'modern'.

I dont know. Here in the EU, the BMW i3 can be bought for 35k euros. With the range extender it´s about 39k euro´s. Thats quite cheap for a BMW. Being all electric, it´s also subject to many tax discounts. And yet it´s turning out to be a huge flop. I´ve seen it exactly one time out in the wild...
