I’ve struggled through so many JRPGs that are dull and I just don’t enjoy because of that phrase, and it’s shit. If a game isn’t enjoyable or worthwhile for the first 40 hrs, why on earth would I want to stick around for the next 40 hrs? It’s already outstayed its welcome at that point. I wish more JRPGs could have

I watched the entire season of Devilman Crybaby when I saw everyone gushing over it, and though I didn’t really like the first couple of episodes I kept going. And then it went from dislike to hate. I just do not understand why people like this so much, or why they talk about it like it’s full of passion and energy.

I’ve given a couple of valiant efforts in trying to get into Horizon, and I’m not sure I get the appeal either. The story’s fine and the overarching concept is cool, but every time I play it feels like it’s just ticking open world game boxes, and it’s sooo much crafting and fetch quests...

I played the game at launch (enjoyed it, but definitely understand people’s gripes with it), but have yet to play the DLC or any of the revamped content. I’m actually trying to wait for Episode Ardyn for my replay, but I’ll also be jumping in through NG+ so I can hopefully just focus on the story.

Out of your list, many have aged better than others, but any shooter on N64 is godawful to play, especially compared to modern standards. Goldeneye’s the best of the lot, and it’s still very rough. It’s also highly unlikely that Nintendo would get permission for DK64, DKR, Banjo, and Goldeneye from Rare, considering

That’s a good point. I’ve been getting the itch to buy a PS2 and get back into the PS1/PS2 libraries, but when I look back through their libraries, most of the games that I would actually want to revisit (especially with the PS1) have been iterated on and improved in later games that would be more enjoyable to play.

I really hope that’s the case, especially since the Classics weren’t just a stopgap for VC but also to fill time between the sad end of the Wii U and the Switch’s launch, so they’ve fulfilled their purpose. It’s clear that there’s a huge nostalgia demand for these games, and pretty soon they’re going to run out of

Not having the balls to finally delete Facebook. Unfortunately my parents / grandparents still post there a lot, and it’s still a great way to stay in touch with friends. But I’ve scaled back to the point where I only glance at it once or twice a week, especially once I realized I mostly went there just to find

Sure, lots of those games are still classics, but notice that of your list of 8 games, 2 are JRPGs, 3 are 2d platformers, 1 is a fighter, and the other two (THPS and Twisted Metal) don’t have to deal with camera / platforming issues. Few of these are actually typical 3d polygonal games, which is likely a big part of wh

Very true. Also, you can’t sell an N64 Classic with only two controllers, so including four would not only make this thing really expensive, it’d also be a huge box.

I gave it a solid effort on and off for the past six months on Vita, and I’m still only about 1/3 of the way through, but jesus does this game fight you actually enjoying it. The dungeons and platforming are awful, and the battles are only functional once you go read a faq on how the basic systems actually function.

I think that’s a big part of it. Outside of the big budget outliers (MGS, Final Fantasy, etc), most of these games just haven’t aged well. And since it was a time when the rules of 3d gameplay were still being developed, you have a ton of awkward gameplay, terrible cameras, poor platforming, etc. My nostalgia for the

I also joined the Dreamcast club this Xmas, as my brother gave me one he’d had for a few years along with games. The highlight of the bunch is either Crazy Taxi 2 or Shenmue, but I’m going to pick up some real gems like Jet Set Radio, Soul Calibur, SF3, and maybe even Power Stone if I’m lucky.

Some kind of rating / curation system would go a long way on the eShop. There's currently a giant sale, but there's so much there that it's impossible to know what's worthwhile if you've never heard of it. Ratings would also let them make a new third tab for the Best Sellers that could focus on most highly rated.

I’m hoping he’s the final DLC character, and they include a couple of lame fakeouts and jokes before he just shows up and sabotages / cheats his way into the game. (Koopa Troopa joins the fight!...wait, that’s just Waluigi in a bad costume)

God, I’d kill for a port of Pokemon Picross on Switch. Preferably one that wasn’t F2P, but beggars can’t be choosers. I need my fix.

I saw that deal for the PS Classic, was tempted by it effectively being half off, and placed an order. But then I thought about it some more and cancelled a few minutes later. I just can’t support such a half-assed attempt at honoring your console’s history, especially since the emulation is apparently not even that

Saw the screenshot and just thought that it was FFXV.

I’m happy to see more of these retro collections come out, but can you imagine if Nintendo themselves released sets like these? A 2D Zelda Collection including the original through Minish Cap? A curated set of classic 16-bit JRPGs? If the Classic consoles are fading away and there’s not going to be an actual virtual

I’ve been playing Smash since N64, played the hell out of all of the games, still have the Gamecube controllers and adapter from Wii U, and yet I’m really enjoying the Pro controller. It’s a much more comfortable and ergonomic controller than the oddball Gamecube (as much as I love it), plus it’s wireless without the
