It’s not about whether or not I’m bothered, and I support all human rights including trans rights. I just hate the dogmatic, puritanical overtone of a lot of the discourse on the left (and I say that as someone whose beliefs are mostly aligned with the left) even if I agree with the goal of making the world more

Where do you get that from? She simply didn’t want to answer certain questions, which is her right. And if the ‘journalist’ fucked up by continuing to press her, to the point that Clark was no longer comfortable with the piece being published, that’s on her, not Clark.

Annie Clark has the right to say as much or as little about her father, regardless of the fact that he’s the topic of her album. No one is entitled to more than what she wants to divulge and journalists shouldn’t badger a subject who has made her boundaries clear. That’s not journalism either, that’s harassment.

I would argue the blame for that lies with the publication, for not paying the journalist for the work done, since it was the artist’s decision to pull the piece. But also, the fact that St. Vincent asked to have it pulled makes me question the journalist’s tactics, because it sounds like she was basically badgering

Oops, double post.

I saw what she said and I don’t see what the big deal is? Are there any quotes missing from this NME piece?Because I really don’t see what she said that’s so outrageous it warrants “cancelling”...

I looked up her cancel culture quotes after seeing several references here and I was expecting a lot worse?

Scared of what? Do you need to agree with someone 100% to enjoy their music?

She probably has to do interviews as part of her record contract. I’m pretty sure she’d rather not do them. She’s well known but it’s not like she’s Beyoncé.

The topic might be her dad but that doesn’t mean people are entitled to more information about him than what she put in her album, or what she’s willing to tell the press.

He could easily date a model in her 20s, which is what most men in his position would do. I don’t know if ‘credit’ is the right word but it certainly makes me like him a little more for it.

This is basically why I’m single. I don’t want kids and I’m not interested in playing mommy to a grown ass man.

Again, who is promoting that idea? So far all I see is a theoretical threat you dreamed up in your mind that bears no resemblance to the situation being discussed and yet you’re acting like it’s actually happening, or about to.

Perhaps this is more an issue of unfortunate writing than these people literally telling people how they feel”

Um, thanks for proving my point. Complete with nonsense comparison to Trump, who was never clever and had never tried to be poignant in his whole fucking life, much less about a Black man murdered by the police. Pelosi may be out of touch and like all politicians will use anything and anyone for political chess (and

Who said they can’t?

“Also, although being against fat-shaming should be a no-brainer these days, I don’t get the vitriol against people wanting to cut down on sugar or calories. Just because some people want to cut down on those things doesn’t mean they are necessarily being primed for an eating disorder. Like, can we have some nuance in

Did she prevent anyone else in congress from speaking?

Did you miss that I was joking?

There’s also an obesity epidemic. Diet culture can promote bad habits and eating disorders but the other extreme - which is basically mainstream american food - is equally unhealthy. Access to affordable healthy food is important but so is education so people know how to read labels and avoid hidden sugars, refined
