Isn't IVF and all that also a long, stressful process? And isn't it easier to adopt if you're willing to adopt a baby that is a minority? I could be wrong but if I am please educate me. I don't understand trying so hard to have a baby with your DNA when there are other kids you could love just as much who may need the

WOW. I was not impolite and I prefaced it by saying I wasn't in her position. Get over yourself. It's not unreasonable to think that since the end result in both situations—a child—is pretty much the same that one would be an alternative to the other.

Maybe this is a stupid question as I'm not in your position, but what about adoption?

That ATF thing...I think that's a GIANT part of the issue, personally.

This exactly. Background checks and more reporting of people who have been institutionalized for mental health issues. I think it's laughable that everyone is so up in arms about these supposed "assault" weapons when most of them don't even know what that phrase means.

Well, yes. That's the idea. And regulate the sale and tax it like any other product. Cuts down on drug addicts in jails, makes money for the very broke state governments, keeps the quality level above a certain grade and possibly cuts down on sickness and drug-related deaths. Also—and this is total conjecture on my

Preach.

Bipolar disorder is not psychopathy.

I like you very much.

Yeah what is the deal with the name-calling? What are we, twelve?

Do those countries have anything like the 2nd Amendment in place? (Actual serious question, not an attempt at sarcasm.)

Thanks for the info! This is actually exactly what I was hoping for in terms of finding out whether it would have any bearing on the psych profile of somebody who carries out this type of thing.

EDIT: Well I just realized there is a poem! http://www.bartleby.com/146/1.html Apparently Niamh was a famous fairy who was beloved by a hero named Oisin in Celtic legend. I actually just picked the name because I liked it and I like the word for fairy, which is "sidhe."

Which personality disorder did he have, then? Because his brother was quoted as saying he had a personality disorder. So I'm confused as to why no one is speculating about it. I'm also sort of confused as to why anyone thinks a "sane" person is capable of doing something like this.

But! How is psychopathy not a mental illness? I'm not understanding some of these comments.

That article doesn't say anything about how they made the schools safer except to tone down on the zero tolerance and do more counseling and interventions. It said nothing about the metal detectors, which may be a reason why schools are now statistically safer. My only point was that this school that was targeted

Yeah I think that's a different debate entirely. :)

Unless the kid was hallucinating and schizophrenic then I doubt there's any other conclusion but psychopathy. This doesn't seem like a "heat of the moment" type crime.

Re: "mental condition". Sorry, not up on the vocabulary differences yet with the new classifications. I wasn't pointing to the likelihood of violence, I was pointing to how the antisocial aspects of the neurological difference (see? I'm learning!) might contribute to/exacerbate the antisocial aspects of the

Err. Okay, the thing I said was about metal detectors and what I was getting at is that schools are dangerous. I said nothing about gun laws except in reference to her original post and I only said that to communicate the fact that I was responding specifically to the bit about the metal detectors.
