You must have a drastically different definition of “handsomely” than I do. There’s never been an oil company that paid 6figures for cutting a road across your property, even if it totally destroys it as a crop-growing field.

If they are fracking (or drilling at all) a deposit that lies under you property, the oil companies pay you directly, and quite well.
