Yeah. I doubt it will be as fun as a GTI, but I never thought the GTI was all that fun compared the Ford ST twins or the WRX. It’ll be neat to see a comparison between the 2 in the future. Probably will be still more on the lux side than the fun side compared to the GTI, I’m guesssing.

To be fair though, the 2 cars are focused on 2 very different things. I cross shopped the WRX and 18MY Mazda3. The interiors of the 2 are night and day.

Yup. Sadly, for me, the biggest reason was simply buying power. I can’t justify a $30k+ car at this time of my life. Heck, my Mazda 3 was a huge drain on the financials as is. Agreed. They probably knew that they already had a RWD manual that worked with the 2.0T off the shelf, so development costs were probably far less too.
There are always special exceptions (I’d love me a manual M2) but even the M3/4 manual take rate is somewhere down in the 20's%. And the regular 3 series doesn’t even offer the manual anymore.
There’s a reason the S4 and 3 Series don’t even offer a manual transmission anymore.
