Ford apparently tried to buy a controlling stake, but Amazon wouldn’t let it happen. So if Ford figured out the Amazon stake part of the deal, I think they would totally go for it.
I feel like the biggest reason they haven’t done anything is so that they can focus on the launch. The regular Bronco is underway launching at MAP and they don’t want another Explorer/Aviator launch (my friends still have nightmares about that). I think if this comes out, it will be about a year later once all the…
Speaking of geography, I’ve always wondered what American cars would have been like if Henry Ford and the like lived in somewhere with more varied geography. If early cars (especially later in the 50's) had to handle stuff like the Angeles Crest instead of the flat, pothole filled grids of the Midwest. I wonder if we…
I have a buddy who rolled his modded out Jeep while in Moab. He had put $80k into it. I have another friend (same group) who went out and bought a 4 door Rubicon new just to go to Moab and play.
My dad had a tan one of those. Religiously maintained it, but right at 100k miles, it threw a piston and grenaded the engine. Comparing it to the Hondas and Toyotas my brothers and I had which were running fine in the near 200k, it put a bad taste in my mouth for GM products.
Based on how the Wrangler and 4Runner sell vs their unibody midsized siblings, I don’t think you’ll be right. Even if the Blazer and Bronco sell similar numbers, there’s the amount of cash on the hood and discounts. The demand of the body-on-frame SUV’s right now is so high that there are few discounts available.…
Problem is that there are still companies COMING to the greater Detroit area. I live a little outside Ann Arbor and there’s a newish Hyundai Tech center and a soon to open Subaru tech center nearby. A Toyota one is 20 minutes away, Honda is nearby in Northern Ohio, Nissan is in the northern greater Detroit area. And…
Mostly because I can barely be bothered to write a long post on Facebook :D
I’m also about more experience over more speed (why I have my Mazda3 instead of something faster. Good blend of comfortable highway and fun in the corners). My wife and I have been going on local drives multiple times a week. I find the few roundabouts just so I can push the car around some sadly few corners :D
There is at least precedent to change it if enough people complain. GT350 launched with either Tech or Track packs, you couldn’t get both. After enough complaints (and the issues with the non track pack cars), they made the track pack standard, so people could then get both. Hopefully something like this is the case.
Tweet at that guy! The more responses that team gets, the more likely they’ll change. It worked on the GT350. When it launched you had either the track pack or tech pack. Customers usually wanted both. There was enough complaints that the next model year, they made the track pack standard (raising the MSRP a bit, but…
I had a manual diesel Qashqai when I was in Iceland. I thought the vehicle was pretty entertaining with the stick. I could hold it right in the (very tiny) powerband of the engine when we were racing up dirt roads. It was thoroughly enjoyable.
It was a long time ago in the life of the program but I remember hearing an up to 12% take rate on manual for these cars. With excluding options like the Sasquatch, I highly doubt that’s where they ended up with the number. I’ve loved everything about this product launch so far, but this part is really dumb and misses…
Exactly. After all the bolts were added up, cost for it really wasn’t all that much extra per car. It was deemed worth the extra expense for the Easter Egg and advertising they could do with it.
When we were making test samples, we had to make sure they stayed unthreaded so that employees wouldn’t grab secret handfuls for internet sales later. It was interesting that there was a team for something so simple as this. The fastener expert, Vehicle Personalization (the team who made that huge parts catalog I…
Yeah, just a few years ago, the power figures would have been the main engine (heck it is in the Ranger and that thing really isn’t needing more power. Especially when my dad is driving his...)
HEY look at that!!!
