Good stuff. I was recently watching ships travel on the Mississippi in New Orleans and, while I knew some, I would have enjoyed appplying this additional knowledge to what I was seeing.

Well, no hat tip and I imagine there are multiple sources that they could have gotten the story from. So, I remain unconvinced, but am open to all possibilities.
