Meh car Monday is revealing something about myself that I guess at some point I’ll need to come to terms with. I was really digging that Triumph Acclaim when I first learned about it in this column and I remember seriously considering the Mercury Milan back in the day: a Ford Fusion that’s been upscaled with leather

The Milan was anything but “meh,” especially the V6. I refuse to corrupt it by lumping these fine automobiles in with the mediocre daftness that was the Chevy Malibu and Chrysler 200 of that era

See also: Pontiac and GM. Instead, we still have GMC kicking around making Chevy trucks with more luxury options. Why do we have a GMC and not a Pontiac?

A “CEO” with a Milan? Was he the CEO of like a chain of four dry cleaners or something?

I’d argue you on a few points there but you’re not going to like them.

You forgot the Villager, especially in its Nautica trim. No Ford or Lincoln counterparts. (Yes, I know it’s a Nissan Quest.)

Nothing more saccharine than wishing something would die to have it, then, persist out of sheer spite.

That’s not fair, all of Mercury was a meh car brand so picking on the Milan is like shooting fish in a barrel. There was absolutely nothing Mercury did that Ford didn’t do cheaper and Lincoln didn’t do better, with the possible exception of the Marauder.

My neighbor owns one and he hates it, but refuses to get rid of it until it gets too expensive to repair. He has like 220k miles on it with nothing but normal maintenance.

Who in the Hell would design a curb that way?

I fucking hate curbs on my passenger side.

a non-handicap person coming out of a handicap spot scrapping the side... GOOD!

“It often causes us to live above our means.”

My guilty pleasure is Chipotle. I don’t go there for Mexican food, because it isn’t. I go there because it’s fucking delicious. There’s also the shitty Mexican chains here in California like Alberto’s, which is also delicious.

I know mexican food. I know the good stuff, I can distinguish between the specialties of different states of Mexico.

Counterpoint, never buy the first model year after major changes.

My 2015 JKU with 12K on it has a KBB trade-in value that is slightly higher than what I bought it for (pre-tax). Granted KBB can’t really be trusted, but it’s ridiculous non the less.

Yup. My best friend pulled the trigger on a new Rubicon, because 3-4yr old ones were still often within $5k with 50k miles or more.

Given the oft-dubious choices people make about aftermarket parts for Wranglers, I’d probably only buy used after 7 or 8 years and depreciation has really kicked in.

Umm..Mitsubishi is the company that will “finance ANYONE!!!!!” and has been for the past 10+ years. Not Kia which now a days many people buy based on their own merits.
