Note that I haven’t lived anywhere urban in years. I live deep in the suburbs 26 miles from the center of the metro area and going anywhere in a car is pretty much a minimum of 10-15 miles one way. My in-laws that live nearby do about 25k a year and don’t go in to work every day.

I did my part. The problem is that I only buy a car every decade or so and just bought my first new car, so it was only once and probably won’t happen again for quite a while...

This combined with the WRX STi, Civic Si, and Type-R, this probably extended the life span of manuals being offered in any cars by at least 10 years. They force younger people that buy them to learn, creating a small group of younger people that can now drive manuals...

Honda is probably most notable for it. The non-WRX Subarus are limited to lower trims as well, if I recall.

I think a lot of us are “internet car guys” these days. I have put less than 5k miles on my car a year since I bought it. The world is just getting weird, we can’t afford to drive for fun, nor do we really have the time to.

When my parents met, my mom had a manual car and my dad had an automatic. Surprisingly, the main car that each one drives continues to match this pattern (mom has a manual NX2000, dad mainly drives an automatic Cavalier).

The annoying thing about a number of brands listed that are still carrying the torch is just this. You can’t get a manual above the base trim or mid trim (if you’re lucky)...

Keep making the cars with them. They cut all but the Mustang. They’re no longer producing the other three for the North American market.

Yes, deeply incorrect, as usual.

They’re not infinite, knave.

Somehow this sounds like a good way to get accessory drug charges.

They could give up on the chrome logos and model names, too. Those are also holdovers from a bygone era.

I don’t know, I’m kind of okay with the pinstripe, in context. The wheels are already out of context regardless of the driver.

I feel as though stereotyping based on copious data and constant reinforcement should be considered acceptable. I mean, when I see a WRX or stanced car, it’s reasonable to expect the driver/owner vapes. When I see a swagger wagon (Toyota Sienna), it’s reasonable to expect they have smaller children and that both

And those wheels. There is just a boatload of bad decisions on display here.

I wish it covered more of the door and that it was available on US cars...

Well, I’ll admit that I rarely encountered luxury cars, which do have automatic transmissions worldwide. Most of the automatic cars I saw were clearly imported from up north.

I’m surprised by this claim. When I visit Mexico, the vast majority of cars are manuals. It’s shocking how many are manuals even when just peeking in the windows of random cars. I went 3 weeks without being in a single vehicle with an automatic transmission the last time I was down there.

Interesting. I just looked at mine and my liability limit is really high, then I have that much more on top from the umbrella. Apparently it was balanced to get as much as possible for the lowest price...
