How is it possible for a 71 year old man to have ZERO social graces???

The sheer scale of the homelessness and clear mental distress I see on the streets in the US is the most striking thing, as a foreigner.
Oh yeah, because NYC cares so much more about the mentally ill who wander our streets with no care. I get that prisons are a huge problem here, but the entire country treats the mentally ill so horribly it’s beyond belief.
This is horrible and happens in cities everywhere. A good friend in my city is still fighting to get her rape kit processed. She was raped last October, they’re now deliberately dragging their feet on prosecuting her case since she embarrassed them by going to the media, and our DA has dealt with the negative press…
Not that it’s particularly relevant, but your comment just brought back such a memory for me...from 65 years ago: Skip (“Skippy” back then) and I lived 3 houses apart and, I swear to god, “Fuckin’ Skip, man” is exactly what my little five-year-old brain was thinking every time I saw him coming down the block toward…
If it ain’t bark broke...

Hey now. I have no interests in Kentucky, but even a wealthy, liberal-leaning state like MD (where I am) didn’t just pass a bill for free community college like they did. Even Gov. Bevin, whom I vaguely recall as an all-around POS, supports it (with some in-the-works finagling of the final bill…
Literally my first inner monologue question was, “But who sits in Town Hall?!”
Apparently, they only have 315-ish people living there according to the 2010 census so I guess they really are like, “eh fuck it”.
I was curious too. It’s an unincorporated town and only 315 people live there. It looks like they have a board of directors made up of three people (Pres, VP, Secretary) who also act as a historical preservation society. The website lists those three people on the About Us page and then the doggy mayor lol.
Lots of smaller towns don’t have mayors, they have town managers til they become a city. Fishers Indiana is a prime example. It’s listed as one of the best places to live in the country, and it just recently changed to a city and elected the town manager mayor.
I mean, it’s Kentucky, does it really matter?
the dog. didn’t you read the article? ;)
This is cute. Good for them.
Aww, what a sweetie. Pits have the best smiles.
Why wouldn’t a COFFEE shop not have a goddamn public bathroom? Coffee makes you pee/poop. Do you want people to poop on the floor of your coffee shop?
I just found out that a not-small number of my friends have never read the book.
SMALL SPOILER ALERT
