I'm not a fan of MS Metro either, but keep in mind that the 360 underwent several OS updates until it finally got it right. Additionally, the 360 RRoD caused a lot of trouble in its first years of launch, and MS managed to right the ship.

Actually, it's not a bad move at all by MS. Those who already purchased an Xbox One with Kinect (and especially those who purchased one with a game bundled) for $450 basically got the Kinect thrown in for free at this point.
