The transmissions in these things impress me the most since they do drive through small towns and side roads. So not only does it have to take a massive hit of torque while doing drag runs, they also have to then go up and down gears at low rpm while pulling a trailer for miles on end.

And beer. For after the races.

Street wheels and tires all around and it might have a quick disconnect rear but the core of the vehicle is there.

It shouldn’t be understated that this “truck” drove on the street for 1000+ miles of public roads over the course of a week, while doing drag racing events every day and all support parts/tools need to be carried or towed by the vehicle itself - no support trucks full of crews and parts. That is drag week. So if it

I’m mostly just annoyed at how the racer tried to portray himself as the voice of the guy from an unfunded background while also leaning heavily on knowing people with deep pockets and, in his words, blank checks. He really comes off as a bit of a tool and this video proves he’s actually a bit of a talentless fuck if

Well....it’s not a pipe dream but the automakers seem to do their best to make it so. I get that new cars are a struggle to make profitably, but I’ve bought two cars brand new and I’m only 29. Granted, it was a Fiesta and a Focus, but it shifts metal. If no one gets into owning a car at all, then eventually it won’t

Hmmmmm.....James Hunt was always a fan of Minis. I wonder if this mini cooper could beat his championship winning Mclaren? If the Mini team is reading this - Bam, there’s your marketing done for you.

Man, about 20 years ago, you could get one of these for pennies. Great condition ones were under 10 grand IIRC, and good condition drivers with paperwork were under 5 grand. Now, even high mileage ones go for like 30 grand (assuming they’re in good shape, of course).

And yet there was still the Blazer ZR2. Even when it became an entry level SUV to sell during the craze, they still remembered that part of the design ethos of the Blazer was some semblance of 4x4 dirt road fun. It’s not a wrangler, but then again it didn’t have to be.

THANK GOD!!! I develop car wash products for a living and seeing the luxury vehicles auto-wipers go off as the wraps and brushes are spinning is anxiety inducing. Same for when they hit the dryers.

I hear you, and I get it, as I would definitely pick up the recaros for my ST if it wasn’t saddled with a million other options that crank up the price. But not having the “perfect” seat is a fair trade-off for the cheaper price base model. I’m not going to buy a non-hot hatch just because my “ideal” hatch isn’t for

If you wait for a car that is *exactly* what you wanted, it will probably never happen. I’ve seen time and time again, people pick apart a car and everyone has their own dig at it. Like the old Chevrolet 130R concept - it was both too small and too big, not powerful enough but also too expensive, too complicated yet

Ah, the jalopnik cycle.

Nazis love beatles

Now if only they had put “Imported from Detroit Sterling Heights” on the 200...

“Detroit(ish), MI”

Why do people constantly pretend like F1 has been about a large number of passes? It has never been like that. It’s always been about memorable, well executed passes, but each race usually just has a few highlight sections. In terms of passing - the V8 era SUCKED until DRS came around. The V10 era was even worse. Sure

I heard one fellow by the name of Mr. Snrub give a very compelling argument about supporting Bryce’s move.

Just re-watched General Mayhem last night. The elation they had when the misfires and backfires kicked was great. “THERMOQUAAAAADDD!!!!

The “lecture” is in a link in one sentence so to actually get the lecture you have to click that link away from the article to read it. Hell, it took you longer to type that comment than to read that sentence.
