This is very tragic. Glad that they at least recovered her body. One thing that this ordeal told me in the past few days is that A LOT of people on social media really have no idea how scary drowning is and how fast it’ll kill you. Been seeing a lot of misplaced hatred and blame being thrown towards the search team,

So tragic. So sad. Poor kid lost a mother. Smh RIP young angel. She’s in a better place now.

Also important to remember lakes aren’t pools. There’s no guarantee it won’t get significantly deeper all of a sudden. The area where she drowned had depths of 35 -60 feet.

Dammit, she was so talented. She had such a great voice. This whole thing is horrific.

At least her family can begin processing this and start moving on. Thank god it wasn’t one of those eerie Lake Tahoe drownings where the body is discovered 20 years later.

Ugh so awful. Rest in Peace. I’m happy that her family and friends (and fans, of which I include myself) have closure at least.

This isn’t even the tenth biggest reason why this is so tragic, but it’s worth saying that she was so so so talented. Her performance in Glee was legitimately great – like honestly worthy of awards consideration. She was a fantastic singer (her version of Valerie is a personal favorite), good dancer, and a really

I think that magpie’s point was that there’s actually a little bit of a gap between “X sucks” and “X deserves to have have hundreds of strangers yell at her that she ought to have died young”. I realise, though, that this gap doesn’t exist for many people online.

A rare kudos to Lea Michele for having the self awareness to not make this all about her.

You’re kidding right? It was dead the minute it was brought over to the Gawker-shit-verse. We’re just the suckers going down with the ship.

When it first happened I truly thought it was an earth shatteringly awful event that was going down. (Hey, I’m a passionate person.) Boy, did I not know what else was in store.

So

You didn’t even read the headline, ffs. Is that some sort of record for laziness?

God forbid anyone be allowed to express their emotions privately, or not comment on some socially relevant issue because they don’t feel qualified. Absence of a public statement is not evidence of absence of feeling.

“Please refrain from judging those who don’t show their pain on social media.”

AV Club mentioned a book just the other day that skewered ‘performative feminism’. Now we’re talking about ‘performative grief’. Its not enough that you are grieving for your lost friend, you are now compelled to be SEEN grieving so the unwashed massed can get their ‘bread and circuses’.

The Public: Posting “Thoughts and Prayers” is useless and stupid.

oh my fucking god blast me

“Spike Lee Puts Jeff On Blast After Refusing To Side With Amber Riley And Kevin McHale During Their Blasting Of Critics Of Glee Stars Who Refuse To Tweet About Naya Rivera, Then Quickly Retracts It

It took a few tries for me to parse that headline out, and I was wrong on my first guess of what it meant.

Holy fuck was "Cheer" in 2020???!? Omg this fuckin year

‘What do you like the best about black peoples?’ That reminds me of the time my friend said, seemingly out of nowhere, ‘Man, I hate black people.’ What?!? ‘I mean look at that. They can wear the most ridiculous fit ever and make it look good. Bright ass orange shirt? I could never, but that dude was looking tight.’
