I burned out on superhero movies around Spider-Man 2, though I’m still in for good sci-fi (ie Arrival). Definitely excited to see a big Hollywood release that is different from those instead of having to seek them out at the indie theatre.

I hope people watch this. It’s such a beautifully shot movie and obviously about important subject matter, but it is very quiet and slow and foreign so I know a lot of people will likely be bored...

I was going to say he is way too old but I looked up the timeline and he’s only about 9 years older than Mr Rogers was at the time (so Tom Hanks is about 7 years younger). I guess he just looks a little saggier haha but he’s got the body type too

Yes Straithairn has a similar likeness for sure! Wasn’t trying to think of other actors that are somewhat known that could work. He’s got the beanpole feel :)

I’m sure I’ll feel differently when I see everything in context, just don’t see it as “ideal casting.” But we’ve reached the point in time where there is only one untarnished nice guy left and that is Tom Hanks so I guess we need him in all these roles haha

I’ve never thought that looking at him but I hear it a little in the voice.

I mean I’m sure I’ll see it and enjoy it because honestly I just feel happy and comfortable watching Tom Hanks, which I’m sure is what they were going for.

That was a good way of putting it.

Damn I miss Jimmy Stewart. I’ve always thought that Tom Amandes looked like Mr Rogers but I know he probably wouldn’t be considered a big enough celebrity to carry a movie. Haven’t seen him in enough to know if he has the acting chops.

I did really like him in Saving Mr Banks, but I didn’t grow up watching Walt Disney in my house every day. I only saw random promotional clips and short videos of him. Tom Hanks has played a lot of real life people that I’m fine with and really enjoyed (Jim Lovell, Ben Bradlee, Captain Phillips, Charlie Wilson, etc

I love Tom Hanks more than anything, but this isn’t ideal casting. It’s not Mr Rogers, it’s Tom Hanks in a cardigan. Tom Hanks is a great actor but he’s always Tom Hanks. I know that he will bring in more audiences but I would’ve preferred someone lesser known or someone who’s more of a chameleon and less of a Movie

I know it’s comic con but there are nine marvel articles in a row on the front page so I hope y’all think about that the next time you complain about something shitty and capitalistic that Disney does.

I’ve had a lot of pretty great experiences, but the very first one I thought of was Stevie Wonder at Outside Lands in 2012. My friend and I had decided (ok I decided and convinced my friend) to just set up camp at the main stage because everyone playing there that day was someone I was interested in and I wanted to be

I shit on every Marvel movie (actually not really, I just don’t go see them because they’re all the same and trash). This doesn’t really have to do with that for me. It’s more about the creepy CGI, the proportions that don’t make sense, the assuredness that it will likely involve a lot of annoying and cringey jokes at

I admit to it as well, but this is a disaster

As someone who was obsessed with Cats in high school......no it does not look good.

Agreed on all counts

Amen

HAIL SATAN

I mean I definitely wouldn’t want to keep carrying his baby after that.
