Thank you! Ready Player One was chosen when she wasn’t on the committee, and maybe even helped to galvanize her into advocating for more challenging books. Just Mercy is a much better selection for a campus wide read meant to foster discussion across disciplines.

It’s not about censoring one book, it’s about choosing a *better* book for a program with very limited spots and resources. If you’re choosing one book for the entire incoming student body to read, you want it to be a good one, right? If you’re selecting a book to win the Turner Prize, you want it to be a good one.

Also, mat-leave positions are great for other workers! They’re an awesome option for taking on a role that’s a bit above where you are now with less risk for the hiring company. It’s so much easier to hire a replacement for 6-12 months than for 6-8 WEEKS. (Paid parental leave for 4 1/2 months is NOT generous, Google.)

So, parental leave is actually far more manageable for a company when you have extended leave - like 6 months or more. When it’s longer, it actually make sense to hire a mat-leave position. It’s temporary, sometimes part time instead of full time, but it keeps the ship on course and is a great way for people earlier

Oh my god how horribly frustrating! You must have been starving!! Two weeks is such a long time to deal with that.

The band always rides up uncomfortable high and the underwire squishes the nips during Red Method. Maybe it’s because I have more conical boobs? Blue Method is so much easier!! Far less adjusting and tugging for my boob type.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Do you have a friend who posts the occasional awkward bad photo (most likely in stories and not their timeline) but mostly really good ones? I do! She’s way prettier than her bad photos, but looks more...human than her really nice photos. From her photos you’d maybe think

You said you’re old and a guy so -

Ah yes, someone who is familiar with intuitive eating! Don’t place moral judgments on food, people!! But food (the process, industry, etc) is political and has moral issues surrounding it - you can acknowledge and interrogate that (ie, societal dairy production/consumption has environmental repercussions) without

It’s really hard! I’ve been making notes in preparation for redecorating/moving, and it seems like much can be done with cool shelving, hanging plants, coordinated stacks of books, and a lot of Anthropologie-esque blankets and throw pillows.  But even though I can see that, actually pulling it off is HARD and takes a

That’s so clearly bad internet photoshop!!

None of the images or links to twitter or instagram ever load on mobile! Here I thought it was just because I’m in Canada.

I have an acquaintance who’s written a couple things for Man Repeller, and yes, she’s as insufferable a stereotype of particularly neurotic early 20s NYC woman as you can imagine. Alllll about her personal brand and creating content and performative wokeness. Constantly instagrams all the super cool/exclusive things

Thank god we have a new Céline to fill the accent aigu shaped hole in our sartorial lives.

It depends on the sickness! For a cold, a love a bowl of sushi rice piled high with pickled ginger and well seasoned with a mix of soy sauce, rice vinegar and wasabi. Lots of wasabi - for these purposes, wasabi over sriracha. It really is amazing at clearing things up, and in my mind ginger is good for colds. (If I’m

I don’t know about her, but I do have a friend who has weird things regularly happen to her. She’s not the most *quirky* person, but somehow somewhat embarrassing things happen to her regularly, and they always become more public than one would think and frequently spiral out into some sort of story. So if she lost

Seriously!! Vegetables are cheap and easy to make, and delicious if you actually add spices or sauce!

Thank you for all the work that you do.

It’s expensive, even at the 50% off price I paid, but I adore my Hunter rain coat. I love love love the cheery but soft sky blue, it feels *quality*, the rain never ever gets even a tiny bit through, the mesh keeps it from feeling clammy even in Vancouver, it’s stylish, the slightly pointed shape of the hood is

Thanks Violet. Watching this unfold is definitely bringing back some memories.
