Funny thing is, as you say monograms were once considered a bit nouveau riche. So it would still be trashy, only old-school trashy instead of modern trashy :D

The only reason I can see to this solution is (a) if they want to lower the price by something like 50 USD due to possibly cheaper manufacturing or (b) if it would disturb the aero to actually let air pass through the vent. But then again, the ‘vent’ surface probably disturbs the aero just by sitting there anyway.

If I ever buy a luxury car, I want this, only with my monogram rather than the manufacturer logo. Seems like an ok way to make an entrance.

This one costs something like $185,000. How much would it add to the price to actually use a real net here, with holes in it? It doesn’t have to be a functional vent, just lead it away to somewhere it won’t hurt the aero too much. Spending a fortune on a car and then seeing this must be infuriating.

How is this ridiculous? It’s a major turn-off when you see a nice high-quality interior covered with expensive leather, and then the vents is still the same cheap black plastic. It sticks out like the Ford-sourced details in a Jaguar XJ220.
