I see a lot of "copy cat" accusations in these comments...and yes, it's true. But the number of original ideas out there are very minimal and some of the best products on the market are copies of someone else's idea and made better. Is that bad? No! It's what drives the market forward.

@Ldubbz: Gamestop determines whether they are going to do a midnight launch for a game (or in this case a peripheral) based on general buzz and (this one is super important) pre-orders. Without enough interest from pre-orders, they don't do it.

@ArchStanton42: I could be wrong, but I think that aside from very special circumstances, they have to actually close the store and kick everyone out as part of their policy. And when they open back up again, they can only sell you the items you preordered or that have released that day.
