Strong agree. I had this as a rental in LA a few weeks ago and I’m still blown away by how both sumptuous and practical the interior was AND by how planted and small this boat felt. I was carving up the Hollywood Hills like I was in a car half the size without even thinking about it!

I rented a brand new S90 when I was out in LA a couple of weeks ago and I still am not over how good that interior was. You’d have to spend upwards of $200k ticking boxes on an S-Class to beat it.

At least it had those dorkily cool rims going for it.

Interesting article, and quite well written, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that GM introduced a similar layout (engine and trans side-by-side instead of one on top of the other, in this case) in 66/67 with the first front-drive Toronado and Eldorado.
