Umm, wow. That’s a lot of loaded perceptions of what I said. Umm, no. I don’t think major issues staying focused makes me rounded, worldly, cool or smart but I do think it’s pretty hurtful and disingenuous to put the worst possible spin on someone admitting they made an error.

I mean... Yes!  It's a major issue I've been dealing with, but I promise it's unrelated to this.  I just overestimated how mainstream popular some of these were and spoke more off the cuff than I should have when putting something to paper.

That’s probably true.  I pay a little bit of attention to everything, so I definitely made the mistake of thinking most people do the same when I made that comment.

I know.  Sorry, comment sections aren’t really arranged chronologically, but you’re responding to an older comment than where I’ve acknowledged that other places.

That’s fair!  I spend... probably too much time learning about things I’d otherwise have no interest in, and shouldn’t have assumed that that’s common behavior because I mean... of course it’s not.  Even saying it out loud, it’s obviously not!  So yeah, my bad.

Yeah, I responded to similar comments already. It was an incorrect and uninformed comment.

Yeah... It’s pretty horrible when I think about the fact that I’ve never even SEEN the worst of it, from 10-20 years ago. Honestly, and I would have thought of myself growing up as a pretty open minded person, I’m often ashamed at how completely ignorant I was to how awful it had to be to be a woman in gaming and nerd

Yeahh, sorry! I realized about a day too late that my comment, which was also poorly informed (I overestimated the mainstream popularity of most of these games), also came across pretty condescending in a way that it definitely was not in my head.

Well, I’ve been prepared to log onto Kinja and have a hundred notifications for things I’ve said before (specifically for picking a fight with a bigot). This was NOT one of them so I felt like I owed the situation some time and attention because I’d obviously screwed SOMETHING up.

That was an unfair comment that I can’t still edit.  Sorry!  It was definitely made more out of shock of how rude select messages were.

I’m actually into less than half of those, which was part of why I mistakenly thought they were such easy questions to start with.

I know, it’s why I saved that response till last because I didn’t want to undermine that your point was right.

Sorry, my other comment was snarky and I can’t edit it.  I shouldn’t have snapped at you, but I mean... your comment was REALLY uncalled for.

Uhhh, I thought I said I knew Katherine Ashe.  My bad!  Anyway, that wasn’t a great example because I’ve worked in bookstores, but I get your point!

Yeah, my mistake.  I thought they were, but I can see how I was mistaken.

That’s a very good point! I guess part of my statement (which I... DEFINITELY would have put more thought into if I thought people would actually be reading or responding to it, but I guess that’s the risk you take when putting midnight thoughts in writing in public) came from an unfair assumption that trivia show

Yup!  I realized that after the first comment!

I mean.... That’s definitely true.  You right.

That’s fair!  I actually don’t get those ads.  My perception of what’s popular here was more based on what my friends who don’t really play a lot of games, but play a few discuss a lot?  They mostly talk about Elder Scrolls and Destiny, so I kind of just figured those were the ones that were mainstream popular.

Mm, no need to pile on. The first comment was really all it took for me to rethink it and see their point, but I guess that’s just how the internet works now? Oh well. Anyway, yeah, I overestimated how common this knowledge is.  No, you don’t need to be a gamer, or live with one, because my non-gamer friends’
