Wait... There are people who think Homelander is the good guy in that show? HOW? It was pretty clear from the first episode that he’s the asshole.

There’s the same issue with a small fraction of the audience for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. They were the ones celebrating the blackface episodes for all the wrong reasons and they turned angry when the show started to make a few points clear (including “The Gang Turns Black” episode).

Yeah, I mean, I never blamed anyone for Jar Jar besides George Lucas. The poor actor was just doing what he was told.

I literally ended up on some conservative website that was complaining about hughie being a pussy on the show and that homelander was awesome. These are the same idiots who didn’t realize till this season that it was mocking them.

I was going to say those people who think Homelander is the hero of The Boys (a show he is also in and who likeness was used for Wee Hughie in the comic)

I couldn’t pick the actor who played Jar Jar out of a lineup of two.  People actually blame Best instead of the writer, director or effects people?

Yeah. Jar Jar has always been worthy of intense scorn, but not Ahmed Best. George Lucas deserves the blame there.

I think we’ve all had jobs where our bosses told us to do stupid shit but we needed the paycheck.

Naw, if there is a case to be made for Portman being a bad actress, this would be exhibit A-Z:

I’ve said it before, I will say it again - there’s a lot that can be said for JarJar Binks, the character, as a concept. But as a performance, give the credit where it’s due - Ahmed Best was one of the few people in that movie who was actually fucking emoting.

For that, I commend the actor, if not the character.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Best’s performance. He’s an early prototype for the kind of all-in CGI acting that Andy Serkis would perfect.

That would require thoughtful consideration.  There’s your problem.

I don’t know how anyone who saw Natalie Portman’s performance in the Star Wars prequels and compared it to her other work could think that the actor was the thing that ruined Jar-Jar Binks.
