I really like this game, and although I’m typically in favour of dealing with a situation such that it does not return to bother you, the lack of lethal firearms seems entirely reasonable given the game’s lore.

One of my biggest issues with the game was the fact your spacesuit is apparently made out of papier mache. You’d be moving along three inches from a wall, that you would then stub your toe on because everything below your neck is a paralytic waste of flesh, and your visor promptly threatens to explode.

I know nothing of the context beyond what this article has provided, but I do like that the central focus of the story seems to not be on the question of “Is it justified to sacrifice some for many?” - a question that there is no objectively correct answer to and thus one which can be used to avoid asking more

Excellent.

Have you any plans to play/review the Visual Novels when they’re released?

Short answer: No.

It’s perhaps akin to a lot of David Weber stuff, in that the fantastical elements are there to provide the story, but once inserted operate in accordance with realism. And my doesn’t Weber enjoy showing his work.

The real GDR was also never at war with an invading alien species. It is true though, that the anime Stasi act more akin to the Gestapo than their real life inspiration. Arguably, the Real Stasi were even more amoral; they specialised in soft power, plausible deniability even as they manipulated people to such a

Minor spoiler for the VN trilogy follows:

It’s more the fact that everything in Muv Luv has an in-universe justification, even as it may obviously be a considered aspect placed by the creator for a meta reason. It’s one of the most rock-solid settings I’ve ever encountered; anything you can pick at it about typically reveals the reasons as to why it is that

I hope you enjoy despair.

How full-of-life would you be expecting a show set in East Germany under the Stasi to be?

The series would have been more satisfying/better/actually worth anything had a lot of things been different, in a variety of mixes. But I will say that a major improvement would have been having the Titan Shifters be the main characters.

I’m well-known around here for having an astonishingly low opinion of AoT, so I’ll just not say anything there. That said, there’s a show next season I’m hoping might be a better story in the same vein: Koutetsujou no Kabaneri.

Goldhawk did a good job despite a significant number of problems and mistakes, all credit to them. And the early community was fun (ah, the discussions about flamethrowers). I’ll eagerly look forward to this, but I am surprised; I had thought they’d rather jump into a Swedish lake in winter than return to Xenonauts so

Honestly, and without meaning to be a dick, I’m not understanding you here. The idea of the Kiiths fighting over whatever discovery they’ve made is workable, though a bit counter-productive given they all already do have a central government organisation. But it’s workable.

I haven’t played any more Trails In The Sky, either.

Now playing

Rowan Atkinson before he did Mr Bean, yes. The man has a fantastic comedic range. One of my favourite skits of his is just him reading a list of stupid names in a serious voice, and making it hilarious.
