My favorites have a nice balance, for the most part. Batman: Arkham City, Red Dead Redemption, Wolfenstein: the New Order, Bioshock, Portal 2, Wind Waker. Even if it’s just the world telling the story rather than having it spelled out for you, it should have at least something interesting to tell.
