I think they could probably acknowledge that there are many places that are worse, but I also think we can agree that there are few places as disappointing. We should be better than this. Science is a big part of what made this country so great. Nowadays it’s a bad word.

This was the confusing part for me as well. I, admittedly, gleefully live in my southern CA bubble and don’t venture out much, especially since this all started.
