One thing I noticed once I saw a few of these in person is that they are incredibly ugly.

There’s a difference between “it broke while harvesting and I need it back in service ASAP” and “it stopped while harvesting because the cabin air filter reached its service hours limit and an authorized service tech needs to come out and replace it with an OEM filter and reset the timer to get it working again.” And…

The issue is that John Deere’s proprietary tech is ridiculously invasive. If you have to wait for a tech every damn time you have a breakdown during harvest - and all of your neighbors have to wait for a tech too - that’s a ton of lost time. And techs aren’t cheap either.

As I age, the shift of everything to a “you don’t actually own it, it’s a SUBSCRIPTION you pay forever” is turning out to be the first thing to make me full-on old man yells at clouds angry whenever it comes up in conversation. I guess it had to be something eventually, but it has been a surprise.

I’ve said many times - what America needs is a modern Delta 88. Basic, no frills, durable, boring, roomy, simple and cheap, built and sold en-masse, and left to age on a LONG running platform. They just need to sell Ford loot boxes. For $100 a pop you can open one and hope that it has an option you want for your vehicle. It will mostly be terrible paint colors and ugly plaid patterns for your seats, but you can always hope.
