The Royal Family really makes zero sense, right? Like, what’s the point of them? The show hardly tries to answer that question beyond “they just exist.”

I mean, I’ll say this for the Crown. It at least made me consider the Royal Family as people not merely an institution that should have been abolished in the 20th century.

I’m saving my excitement until I see how they handle Cowboy Bebop, (an adaptation that I so desperately want to be good: the cast is killer. Cho and Pineda are wonderful picks for Spike and Faye. Pineda, especially has major Faye Valentine vibes) but I do love Yu Yu Hakusho.

Someone once said The Queen’s Gambit is a live-action adaptation of a sports/shonen anime, and it absolutely is. And as much as I loved it for the direction, aesthetic, and Anya Taylor-Joy’s anchoring performance, I retroactively loved it more once I re-framed it as that.

Last year, I watched Deadwood and Justified back-to-back, and then the first season of The Unicorn premiered immediately afterward. Very good run.
