Exactly wrong on the BMW. I own one of these (with the blue trim as pictured) and I love the screen. It's in a perfect spot to see and use, and I think it's stupid to add the kind of complexity to make the screen stow away.

as a turbo guy myself I recently asked a similar question here. Apparently its a cheaper and simpler way to achieve a similar result. Plus people with small dicks love the big displacement numbers ;-)
