I read Annihilation and another Vandermeer novel and thought they were both perfectly wretched. I’m optimistic Garland can find the movie lost in the book. I’m baffled that China Mieville is a Vandermeer fan. That would be like Daniel Day Lewis praising Adam Sandler’s acting.
