Even your last definition is text-book SUV so I’m not sure what this article is on about.

A Rolls Royce pickup truck would be classy as fuck.

I will certainly agree that they are having an ugly contest at the moment, but “shitboxes”? Come on, when was the last time you drove a japanese car? 1970?

It’s about time the Merlin made a comeback.

If Rolls Royce makes a truck it better be powered by a Merlin.

Completely agree. It really doesn’t even look that big (just boxy), especially compared to full sized SUVs here in the US.

It absolutely is. SUVs are, at least on some level, utilitarian vehicles, and Rolls-Royces are not about utility, that implies getting one’s hands dirty. I mean, its 2017, SUVs have gone well beyond mainstream and totally taken over the world, so that attitude is pretty much dead everywhere by now (except maybe in

I’m sorry but no. A “truck” either has a bed (i.e. pickup), is built specifically for towing (i.e. semi), or is a vehicle built from an existing truck chassis (e.g. fullsize Bronco/Blazer, early 4Runner).

If this isn’t an SUV, it’s a crossover.

I wonder if this is an attempt to ... how to say this ... make the Cullinan appear more premium by disassociation.

Ehh, I have the second generation CVT in my Impreza and it’s not the greatest. It failed and was replaced under warranty, in fact. While it was being replaced I had a Corolla with a CVT and it was (sadly) much better than mine. To be fair to Subaru, I think the main problem with the unit (besides the mechanical

Subaru CVTs are a lot better than Nissan’s but Honda’s are by far the best in the business.

Well you know what, I want to slap the morons at Nissan who decided to put garbage CVTs in almost everything they make. Two can play this game, Nissan.

Last week; a mile from my house; on the good side of town - lady pulled over by an impersonator. She got away because she was a suspicious; had left the car in drive; was able to accellerate away when he tried to climb through the window with a knife.

Many instances like this where criminals could take advantage of an autonomous car is why they will ALWAYS need a manual override.
I can see where a thoroughly programmed autonomous car could do 99% of the driving, but never quite 100%...at least not until they are able to think like a human.

V2V was my thought, too. The emergency vehicle can transmit what type of emergency vehicle it is to the autonomous vehicle (cop, fire, medical), and even include instructions. Such as (to simplify) “you are being pulled over” or “yield to the right so the officer may pass.”

Could it be that Jason Drives is coming back soon, to be the only ray of hope in our miserable lives? Hmm...

IFF for the interstate, I like it... so long as I’m not required to retrofit a device to my crusty old Jeep anyway.

In what situation does an autonomous vehicle get pulled over?

Yep. If they are mandating V2V connection for autonomous vehicles, they won’t even need syrens. Just a legitimate police vehicle.

Transponders on emergency vehicles. Problem solved.
