I think this is probably a technical issue. FF VIII hasn’t come to a number of platforms at this point. Only those platforms that can directly emulate the Playstation seem to be compatible with the fully working version of the game, while the PC version is still pretty bad (unless you mod/patch it and whatnot).

I think there’s value in humanization if the goal is to find ways to change or stop similar people from acting in such ways in the future. Criminologists, psychologists, and sociologists need to consider that to propose remedies/policies and to study larger trends.
